Display all various combinations in one visual overview
GS-3 sells shelving units online. These units are available in various dimensions and variations, making it challenging to gain an understanding of the possibilities during the ordering process. While individual components can be added to the shopping cart, it’s difficult for end customers to visualize how depth beams, particle boards, and other parts come together to form a shelving unit. This user experience also hindered growth in the e-commerce channel.
This prompted GS-3 to explore ways to enhance the digital product catalog and provide customers with better product information.
Visual commerce tool to guide customers
In collaboration with Expivi, GS-3 examined the implementation of a configurator, which is a plug & play solution offered by Expivi. Based on existing 3D models and configuration rules, a basic setup was quickly established. This setup outlined the allowed variants and possibilities, as well as the options excluded based on earlier responses in the configurator flow. The shelving configurator is modular, allowing each component within the complete package to be individually configured.
Now, customers have a visual 3D impression of the order being created. Individual panels or structural elements are bundled together in a unified package. Customers are guided through the right questions and product information step by step, and after ordering, the SKUs are added separately to the shopping cart. This enables the order to be sent directly to the warehouse for preparing the modules for shipping.
A perfect balance between on- and offline experience
The implementation of the 3D platform within GS-3’s WooCommerce environment has yielded the following results:
