PontMeyer: Online sales of complex products with Expivi's 3D Configurator

PontMeyer is a subsidiary of Timber and Building Supplies Holland, operating as a one-stop-shop for all things construction, from insulation to sheet material to interior doors.

PontMeyer’s product range is broad and deep, presenting challenges in online product presentation as well as order processing. It is difficult for both employees and customers to have an overview of all the different products and combinations. This creates challenges in order processing, including validating that orders are correct and complete.

For one of the product categories, interior doors, which involve numerous size and accessory combinations, there was a significant need for an online configuration solution. This needed to be an interactive solution, allowing users to assemble the correct product, consisting of multiple elements (door, glass, hardware), in a few clear steps. The combination then had to be ordered directly without the intervention of a PontMeyer employee. Additionally, the solution needed to be integrated with SAP.

The advanced 3D configurator from Expivi was the ideal solution to meet Pontmeyer’s requirements. Expivi’s CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) solution provides a visually robust solution with real-time 3D feedback based on customer selections. In the configurator, the product price is adjusted live according to the user’s choices.

This precise product information ensures that customers know exactly what they are ordering, which has reduced the return rate.

Pontmeyer can now present its product range in any possible combination in 3D. The solution was integrated by partner Elision into Pontmeyer’s front- and backend systems and connected with SAP.
